VAJTA Awards By Year of Presentation
The Virginia Association of Journalism Teachers and Advisers presents annual awards to advisers and organizations. These individuals and groups make scholastic journalism in Virginia dynamic and an area in which students can develop as future leaders in our communities and in communications careers.
The descriptions of the recipients are true as of the year of presentation.
DOUGLAS S. FREEMAN
The Douglas S. Freeman Award recognizes significant contributions to the Commonwealth's publications and to journalism education. The award honors teachers who have devoted a minimum of five years to VAJTA or made valuable contributions to engendering a love of journalism in their students.
