Certification Demonstrates Viability, Dedication and Honor

Advisers who earn either a Certified Journalism Educator (CJE) or Master Journalism Educator (MJE) status through JEA solidify their journalism programs to their administrators, parents, fellow teachers and students.

While providing tangible evidence of the advisers’ qualifications, CJE or MJE certification recognizes the dedication and commitment these advisers have for scholastic journalism.

While state certification for journalism does not exist for 19 states, the number of certified advisers is growing. As of November 1999, there were 593 CJE's nation-wide out of a JEA membership of approximately 2000. Of those, 102 have gone on to receive MJE. Listed below are the current Virginia recipients of CJE or MJE status.
