Since 1987 the Virginia JEA has sponsored a state-wide search for our top scholastic journalists who plan to pursue journalism as a career. In affiliation with VAJTA, a small scholarship in the form of a savings bond has been presented to one to three students annually.

The student nominee must be a senior with a minimum 3.0 GPA who plans to major in journalism. He or she must submit the entry form, write a self-analytical evaluation of his or her “journalistic life,” compile a portfolio and secure a copy of the school transcript.
