As the only independent national scholastic journalism organization for teachers and advisers, JEA provides unique networking and professional development opportunities.

Conventions, newsletters, hotlines, and workshops are available to help the busy adviser. I encourage all of you to take advantage of JEA’s offerings. Just when you think you can’t add “one more thing” to read or to do on your schedule, JEA makes it simple for you.

Need to brush up on the latest in journalistic trends? Check out the JEA Bookstore. Want to network with an adviser experienced in advertising who works in California? Look her up in the JEA Directory. Need a map of the city of the next national convention? Access the JEA home page, download it and print it at home or school.

If the national conventions seem too far, JEA provides a statewide vital link with advisers, and it co-sponsors the High School Journalist of the Year and professional workshops with VAJTA.

So whenever it seems like your palette is too full for professional development or communication with other advisers locally and nationally, look to me and to JEA to give you a hand.

We’ve been helping new and experienced advisers around the country since 1924. That's why we’re here.
